15 Mother's Day Gifts Ideas
This is the year to be a mom on Mother’s Day.
Currently, over 50% of the US population has received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, and with the recent stimulus check distribution, consumers are going all out for moms this year.
According to the National Retail Federation’s Annual Mother’s Day survey, Americans are planning on spending over $28 billion on Mother’s Day in 2021.
I know, that’s a lot.
Shoppers plan to spend an average of $220.48 on average, which is $16 more than they planned to spend last year. The majority of that money is spent on greeting cards, special outings, and flowers.
Shocking, I know.

However, if I were one, I’d imagine the usual Mother’s day gifts would get tired after a few years. You can only get so many coupon books, candles, and robes (see gif below) before feeling like “been there, done that.”

I think it’s safe to say that our Moms deserve a little something special after the crazy year we’ve had.
So, I’ve scoured the web for last-minute mother’s day finds—all under $220—for your shopping pleasure.
Monthly Flower Subscription
Flowers are one of the most traditional mother’s day gifts, but this year you can take it up a notch by signing your mother up for a bouquet subscription service. I found Hometown Flower Co. when looking up flowers to mail to a friend a few months ago and immediately fell in love with their “Flower in a Bag” gift which starts at $38/month, Unfortunately, they’re only local to Long Island, NY currently.
Another option is a start-up called The Bouqs, which sources its flowers from local, eco-friendly farms. Their flower subscriptions start at $36 a month and ship nationwide.
2. Spotify Barcode Frame
I’ve seen this all over my TikTok feed and in my opinion, this is a complete upgrade from the traditional picture frame you might buy. TrueWillowUK on Etsy will personalize an acrylic plaque with one of your photos and a Spotify barcode for $21.
3. Recipe Cutting Board
These personalized cutting boards are ALL over Etsy. In fact, I bought one for my aunt a few years ago as a housewarming gift. Circle City Design Co. will etch a recipe of your choice on a walnut board for $69.
4. Ember Coffee Mug
Ember coffee mugs aren’t just sleek and stylish, they’re built with smart technology to keep your beverage heated. Starting at $129, these mugs come with a battery life of over an hour, a charger, and an app to control the coffee temperature. This is the perfect gift for a coffee lover.

This “Paint By Shadows” kit feature 2 separate landscapes of the Amalfi Coast. For $40, you and your mom can do you own version of a “Wine & Canvas” night.

This is a perfect gift for grandmas. Starting at $20 for an 8x10 print, WordsWorkPrints can personalize each of the birds on the family tree with different colors and add all of the names of the grandchildren as well.

I absolutely love this gift idea. This is a fantastic way to level up your Mother’s Day “card” game while creating a keepsake for years to come. For $49 (plus the cost of shipping), you can create a 10-minute video book to send to your mom of choice.

Made with porcelain, this terra-cotta diffuser will diffuse your essential oils and act as a decorative piece while doing so. You can order directly on the Vitruvi website for $119.
9. Personalized Perfume Workshop
I honestly came across a Groupon for an Aroma Workshop in Lincoln Park earlier this spring and I LOVED the idea of creating my own signature scent. For $55, you and your mother can have an expert perfumer guide you through the process of creating your own scent.
If you’re not based in Chicago there are a bunch of similar options nationwide, I’d recommend Scent Workshop or OlfactoryNYC.
10. Personalized Reel Viewer
This is another TikTok find and I am loving the retro vibes. Made in Oregon, this is a nostalgic gift that you can customize with personal photos of you and your mom. In my opinion, this could be a tear-jerker and is sure to be a cherished treasure. You can find it on the UncommonGoods website for $30.
11. Oura Wellness Ring
This gift is a perfect, discreet gift for those who want to track their health information but want to do so stylishly. The Oura Wellness ring is currently $299 and comes in multiple colors (so sorry, this one is a bit over the 2021 average…sue me!).
12. Seeds of Love Necklace
The Seeds of Love necklace is handmade out of recycled sterling silver in Seattle, Washington by Britta Ambauen.
